1986 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

Teutonic power rejuvenated

Legacy Motorworks is proud to present the complete restoration of this 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera finished in original Dunkelblau paint, which was commissioned by a client in Los Angeles. This G-model 911 has a 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six engine that has been fully rebuilt by our team of expert technicians.

The engine of this 911 Carrera is a true masterpiece, producing 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque with a compression ratio of 10.3:1. The fuel delivery system is managed by a Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, while the power is transferred through a 5-speed manual transmission. As with all air-cooled Porsches, the sound and feel of the engine is a defining characteristic of the car, and the 911 Carrera 3.2 is no exception. The unmistakable flat-six wail, combined with the mechanical whirring and clatter, creates an emotional connection with the driver that few other cars can match.

In addition to the engine rebuild, the restoration process included a full mechanical restoration, including the gearbox, suspension, brakes, and steering. The car rides on new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, 205/55ZR16 front and 225/50ZR16 rear, offering excellent grip and handling.

Precision restoration full and through

The body of the car underwent extensive metal correction and high-quality repaint, restoring it to its original beauty. All external plastic components were replaced with new parts, and all weather stripping and seals were replaced to ensure a tight, leak-free fit.

The dashboard was rebuilt with new components installed, and new carpet was installed throughout the interior of the car. The engine rebuild process included replacing all critical engine components with new parts that meet OEM specifications. The list of parts includes new pistons, rings, bearings (main, rod, and camshaft bearings), valves, valve guides, and valve springs. Additionally, the cylinder head gaskets and seals, timing chain tensioners and guides, water pump and thermostat, fuel injectors and fuel lines, spark plugs and ignition wires, and oil pump and oil filter were all replaced. All machined surfaces of the engine were thoroughly inspected and machined as necessary to ensure proper fit and function of all components. The engine block was machined to the correct tolerances, and the cylinder heads were resurfaced to ensure a perfect seal.

The result of this restoration is a 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera that is as close to new as possible. With its original paint, completely rebuilt engine, and fully restored mechanical components, this 911 offers an authentic driving experience with unparalleled performance and reliability.

Overall, this 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera is a stunning example of a fully restored G-model 911, and a testament to Legacy Motorworks' commitment to excellence and attention to detail. It is sure to provide its owner with many years of driving pleasure, both in terms of the visceral driving experience and the timeless aesthetic value that a classic Porsche embodies.
