Meyers Manx
Few vehicles capture the carefree spirit of motoring like the Meyers Manx. Lightweight, playful, and iconic, this dune buggy distills driving down to pure fun. This particular Manx came into our workshop with plenty of charm but in need of careful attention to bring its performance back in line with its reputation. Over the course of inspection, and mechanical refinement, we ensured the buggy runs as cleanly and crisply as its lines suggest.

Back to Smooth Running
The project began with transportation from the client’s home to our workshop, where we could fully assess the buggy. On arrival, a cold start revealed a slightly high idle, followed by an in-depth test drive to establish a baseline. Carburetors were inspected and base adjustments set, uncovering a misfire at idle. Fouled spark plugs were replaced, timing corrected from too advanced to a more proper setting, and a valve adjustment carried out—particularly cylinder one, where tolerance had tightened beyond spec.
The sequence of mechanical refinements continued with carburetor cleaning, jet debris removal, and a careful rebalance of both carbs. Once complete, the engine smoothed out, idling properly without running lean and delivering the kind of responsive power expected from a well-sorted flat-four.
